    Think Safety!

Rules and regulations have been established for the safety of all HCRA members and their guests. But rules alone, no matter how long the list, are never a substitute for alert and engaged parenting. Child drowning can happen in a matter of seconds -- in the time it takes to answer a phone call.

Four Critical Rules for Protecting Our Youngest Members:

    • Parents and Adults: Please watch your children at all times and report any instance where proper adult supervision appears to be lacking.

    • While in or near the pool, children unable to swim must be accompanied by an adult at all times. No exceptions!

    • Children and beginner swimmers must pass a swimming skills test before entering the deep end of the pool. The skills test will be administered by the pool attendant or pool manager as time permits.

    • Know what to do in case of an emergency. If a swimmer is missing always look in the pool first. Familiarize yourself with the location of lifesaving equipment, first aid supplies and the pool’s emergency phone.

    Swimming Lessons

HCRA will continue to provide pool time and assist in scheduling lessons taught by area instructors. Club member parents wishing to arrange beginners’ swimming instruction for their children can sign up at the concession stand. Additionally, consider the swim classes offered by the YMCA and Chattanooga Park District.
